Soundarya, the younger daughter of south superstar Rajinikanth, has tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend Ashwin Ramkumar, a Stanford graduate and Chennai entrepreneur, on Friday, September 3. The marriage ceremony, with classic Brahmin rituals, has taken place at Rani Meyammai, Chennai. Famous personalities from film industry, corporate world and politics have attended the gala wedding party. Abhishek BachchanAbhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya RaiAishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kamal Hasaan, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Prabhu Deva, Sridevi and home minister P Chidambaram were the few among the star guests, present to bless the newly-wed couple. Chefs from different cities were gathered to make delicious dishes for the wedding. The foods have been served on traditional banana leaves. Hyderabadi biryani and the payasam from Kerala were the most favourable dishes by the guests. Rajinikanth himself, has served the water.

Rajinikanth's daughter ties the knot with Ashwin

Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth's younger daughter Soundarya today tied the knot with Ashwin, a city-based entrepreneur at a traditional ceremony here.

Rajinikanth, in a message to his fans, said though he wanted to invite all of them to the marriage, he was unable to do so because of space constraint and logistic reasons. "Hence, with a heavy heart, I took a decision not to invite you. But I request you all to bless the couple," the superstar said.

The wedding was attended by high-profile people like Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, Telegu star and Praja Rajyam President Cheeranjeevi, Kamal Haasan and actor Surya with wife Jyothika among other big names.

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who will be seen with Rajinikanth in mega-budget 'Robot', attended the engagement last night along with husband Abhishek Bachchan.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and a host of other high profile guests are expected to attend Soundarya's wedding reception this evening.

Rajini himself supervised all the arrangements for the wedding. According to reports, the actor has gifted a brand new apartment to Soundarya, who is the CEO of Ochre Productions.

Soundarya's animation film 'Sultan The Warrior', starring the superstar, is set for release this year. Rajini has lent his voice to the lead character in the project, with music by A R Rahman.

 Superstar Rajinikanth's younger daughter Soundarya is all set to tie the knot with Ashwin, a Chennai based builder at a high profile ceremony at Rani Meyammai Hall in Chennai Today.

According to reports Rajini has requested his fans not to attend his younger daughter's wedding ceremony. In a statement the actor said that though he wanted to invite all the fans to his daughter's marriage, he was unable to do so because of space constraint and logistic reasons. But he wanted their blessings for his daughter.

With barely today(Sep-3) Soundarya Rajinikanth’s wedding, a grand mehendi function was organised at a five star hotel recently. Apart from family members, close friends also attended the high-profile function hosted by the groom’s sister. Music Jockey Dev kept the evening alive with his mix of upbeat, festive music. A small video clipping showcasing childhood pictures of the bride and the groom was presented during the occasion, which had both Soundarya and her groom Ashwin blushing, recalling some sweet, old memories. “Ashwin is too handsome”, said Rajini, as he gave a small talk on his would be son-in-law. A fun-filled Karaoke session added more colour to the evening. Says a source, “Soundarya was looking her best in a dark blue salwar and the beautiful mehendi. When old Tamil hits were sung, Rajini joined in to sing 'Adho andha paravai pola', and made the event even livelier. A cocktail party was also thrown in for the guests.” Soundarya will tie the knot with entrepreneur Ashwin on September 3.  

Raghava Lawrence does it for Soundarya Rajinikanth

Raghava Lawrence has announced that plans are afoot to donate food to 1000 people at the Raghavendra Temple, which he had built, in Ambattur to coincide with the wedding of Soundarya Rajinikanth on September 3rd, 2010. Soundarya had been donating 15,000 every month for the orphanage and home for the handicapped run by Raghava Lawrence and this is his token of appreciation to the lady. Raghava Lawrence also wished Soundarya a very happy married life and a bright future on behalf of the inmates of his orphanage and home for the handicapped.

Now daddy Rajinikanth is busy preparing for his daughter's marriage. Recently Superstar and his wife Lata personally invited Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and former CM Jayalalitha for the wedding. Many important celebrities, including Big B Amitabh Bachchan, are expected to attend the wedding.
